Micron Imaging Becomes Independent on March 4

Yahoo: Micron is to launch a new independent identity for its Imaging Business on March 4, 2008. It will also unveil "cutting-edge technology and product initiatives" for DSC and mobile phones. My guess is this will be 1.4um pixel sensor generation, may be combined with EDoF.

  3. Yes, most have left Micron.

I wonder how strong is the new Micron Imaging's obligation to keep using Micron fabs as a foundry. If they bring all their accumulated knowledge on pixel design to some Chinese fab, like SMIC, or even some smaller one, this can turn whole the market upside down. Then they could beat Samsung on price with ease. Just a thought.

  4. Much of the senior management are from Photobit and they are all very good people. Of course many good people also left and Micron brought the remaining Pasadenans to San Jose.
